CSV/Excel Query Tool

CSV/Excel Querying

CrossCompass will allow users the ability to query on various data sources, CSV and EXCEL being just another data source.

CrossCompass will enable data extraction via automatic generation of SQL via a simple to use, user friendly interface. The data once extracted can be saved into various formats such as CSV, Excel or PDF.

You can even extract data from a database table and a CSV or Excel file (or both) simultaneously if the data is linked in some way.

CSV/Excel Administration

If the EXCEL spreadsheet is a simple grid and the columns are defined as discreet data types then querying is easy and simple.

If you know the layout of the CSV file i.e. can describe the columns and their data types e.g. Date or Text, then as an administrator you can catalogue this file for access by end-users as you would for a database table.

From here, CrossCompass will handle the SQL generation, the security and the data extraction. The end-user has only to select the fields required, enter some criteria and the data will be extracted.

CSV/Excel Data Management

CSV Import/Export

CrossCompass also has an administration system designed to manage data such as CSV/Excel if migration to databases is required.

CrossCompass will either read entire CSV/Excel files or query sub-sets of data and then load/import these files into a database of your choice.

This can be done on the fly using our ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) suite or by the batch suite at various intervals.

Regardless of the format of the CSV or complexity, CrossCompass treats the files as database tables.

Bespoke Transformation

CrossCompass will also allow you to write code external to the ETL suite or batch suite to do some transformation on the CSV data. Using the sample code and your obvious knowledge of your own data , it will add all the flexibility you need to manipulate the data prior to loading/migrating to another source.
