CrossCompass ®
Ad Hoc Reporting Tools & Embedded Query Components

Adhoc Queries

Adhoc Query Solutions

CrossCompass will allow end-users and programmers alike the ability to perform adhoc queries on various data sources.

CrossCompass will enable data extraction via automatic generation of SQL via an user friendly interface.

CrossCompass will enable data extraction via database views and stored procedures via an user friendly interface.

CrossCompass was designed to access disparate data sources and as such the query engine can access multiple data sources simultaneously.

A query can be run against a single database e.g. Oracle or DB2 in which case the user can access a single table or multiple tables via single SQL statements automatically generated.

The data could be a DB2 table, a SQL-Server table and a CSV file. SQL statements will be generated per source and the data will merged by back-office components and passed to the GUI as a single result set.

The user having extracted the data can manipulate the results in many ways:

  • Re-order the output columns in the grid.
  • Drag & Drop the columns to group the data
  • Merge the data with Excel or CSV or both

Once extracted and manipulated the grid contents can be saved into various formats such as Access, XML/HTML, CSV/Excel and PDF.

The user can also design a report via our report designer suite. This report can then be deployed for groups of users to execute.

Installations

Flexible Usage and Licensing as CrossCompass will allow the query engine to be used in different ways and the associated prices reflects this usage.

Power Users
These users have the full extent of CrossCompass functionality:

  • Accessing multiple data sources including CSV/Excel
  • Merging data with CSV & Excel.
  • Executing bespoke reports and filtering data.

Standard Users
These users are presented with a simpler interface and can:

  • Access multiple data sources.
  • Merge data with CSV & Excel.

Limited Users
These users are presented with a simpler interface and can:

  • Access only database content.
  • Execute bespoke reports and filter data.

Restricted Users
These users are presented with a view/stored procedure execution interface to:

  • Invoke the pre-defined views.
  • Invoke the stored procedures with parameters.

Lightweight Users
These users are presented with a report execution interface to:

  • Execute bespoke reports.

In an installation all types of users can exist depending on the requirement.

All in all adding total flexibility to licensing.
